5 Bible Studies that will change your life

Changes comes to us when we open our hearts to learn and acquire knowledge.  The bible says that we must renew our hearts, our thoughts and our actions in the spirit.  When something is changed in our hearts, everything else in us will be impacted by that change too.  New things start to happens, new thoughts, new actions, a new you start to emerge.  That is the result of a life committed to serve God and that pursues Him in prayer and studying the Word.

And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].

Bible Journaling – God’s purposes prevails

Bible Journaling Gods Purposes Prevails

There is something good about knowing that God’s purposes always prevail.  The bible teaches us about the plans and purpose of God with us.  We can feel and live secure about God’s promises to be fulfilled in us, if we do trust Him of course!

Today, I want to share a reflection about the purposes of God and how they prevail in our lives.  As part of our bible journaling challenge this week we are in Ephesians 1:5 that says:

He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—

It’s wonderful to know that God wanted us to be adopted by Him as his children.  So, He had a plan for salvation through Jesus Christ.  This verse teaches us that God loves plans.  He always have plans and they are good for us.

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11

Sometimes we cannot understand God’s plans with us. But we can trust that He has plans for our well-being. Has it happened to you, that you do not understand God’s plans and you begin to distrust what He may be doing in your favor?  It has happened to me. Then we began to despair and even make decisions outside the will of God, simply by not waiting on Him.

So it is important to remember that He already has our plans for our well-being. We may have our own plans, but God’s plans prevail over ours.  This is a relief for me, and gives me so much peace that I can trust in God’s plans for me.  Don’t you think?

Here’s a bible journaling I did while studying and meditating in Ephesians 1:5.Bible Journaling Gods Purposes Prevails2

What did I used in this entry for the challenge?

I used, watercolor paint in yellow, flower washi tape (lots), Illustrated Faith die cuts and colored pencils.  My favorite? It’s the piece that says “I know that plans I have for you”.

Using Washi Tape for Bible Journaling

Using washi tape for bible journaling

Continuing with the bible journaling challenge and the study of some bible verses, today I want to share with you a short reflection about the Word of God.  Plus, I want to show you some tips about how to use washi tape for bible journaling.

The verse that we are studying is Isaiah 55:11 that says:

So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

God speaks and send His word with a purpose to be accomplished.  The word of God is our food, is our light, is a two-edged sword.  It has so many descriptions and purpose for us.  That’s why we must learn it, meditate in it and live it. (Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:103)

The Word of God it is true, it is infallible, it is eternal, it is sweet and delightful and it is irrevocable.  It is describes as the sword of the Spirit, living and active, living and enduring. (Psalm 33:4, Proverbs 30:15, Psalm 119:89)

We can be build up with the word.  We can receive comfort and strength with the word.  It brings growth to our lives.

This gives us a powerful reason to study, to meditate and trust in His word and promises for us.  That’s why we journal is our bibles in the first place.  Not because of the colors, or the paint, or the lettering.  But, about what we learn every day, when we put the scriptures as a priority in our lives.  What do you do with the scriptures? Do you read it only or you live it?

We are in our third day in our Bible Journaling Challenge.  Here’s a few tips about how to use washi tape for this purpose.  I decided to work this entry with washi tape only and some Illustrated Faith die cuts / tabs, as you can see in this picture below.  I have to say, I love using washi tape in every entry.  It gives my pages some uniqueness.

Bible Journaling for Isaiah 55:11

What you can do with the washi tape?

  • You can use it to identify a verse, as I did with arrow washi tape.
  • You can use them to decorate the bible.
  • You can use them as a help to hold the tabs.
  • You can use them to mark a page in the bible.
  • Or as a substitute for the bible tabs

Finally, you can give multiple uses to washi tape in your journaling, and the best of all is that they are re-positionable! – Give it a try!

Bible Journaling Challenge – Deuteronomy 7:9

Bible Journaling Challenge Deuteronomy 7-9

When the word of God says that… “God is God, the faithful God” this statement and truth gives me and you security.  We can trust in God with our eyes closed, because He is faithful, always faithful.  This is the first verse we are studying in our Bible Journaling Challenge, Deuteronomy 7:9 that says:

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.

How wonderful is our God! He is faithful with those who love Him.  However, there is something very important that we should do and consider.  We must keep his commandments always.

While journaling this verse I focused myself in the faithfulness of God and how He always have better plans for us, even when we do not see those plans clearly.  Here’s my entry for this bible verse and all the materials I used.

Bible Journaling Challenge Verse

For this entry, I used some washi tape with floral and polka dots.  I used some flower paper pieces and the word LOVE from Illustrated Faith.  In the background the first thing I did was to add some color with watercolor paint in green.  Then, I started adding the washi tape and paper pieces.  The last thing I did, was to write part of the verse.

Final Reflection:

No matter the circumstances we are living today, we have the security that our God can make the impossible.  Just, think about the things that God have done for you until today and how faithful He has been.  Our heart should be always grateful of God and the wonderful things He does around us.  Let no fear interfere with our relationship with Him, know that HE is GOD and HE IS A FAITHFUL GOD!
