Disadvantaged but Qualified

Disadvantaged but Qualified

“Just look at yourselves, brothers—look at those whom God has called! Not many of you are wise by the world’s standards, not many wield power or boast noble birth. But God chose what the world considers nonsense in order to shame the wise; God chose what the world considers weak in order to shame the strong; and God chose what the world looks down on as common or regards as nothing in order to bring to nothing what the world considers important; so that no one should boast before God.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 CJB

Have you ever asked yourself, “Who am I that God should use me, honor me, love me? Who am I that God should call me, choose me, favor me? Have you ever disqualified yourself from the destiny God called you to because you did not think that you were packaged right … because you did not come from the “right” family, city/town/village, background … because you have just enough money to survive and cannot even imagine financing the giant dream He is urging you to pursue? Have you? I know I have.

So did Gideon. The LORD said to him, “Go in this strength of yours and save Isra’el from the hands of Midyan. Haven’t I sent you?” Judges 6:14 CJB. Gideon’s natural reaction was, “Forgive me, my Lord, but with what am I to save Isra’el? Why, my family is the poorest in M’nasheh, and I’m the youngest person in my father’s house!” Judges 6:15 CJB

When God commissions us, it is not us neither would it be done in our ability and strength. The LORD assures Gideon, “Because I will be with you, you will strike down Midyan as easily as if they were just one man.” Judges 6:16 CJB

YHVH will be with us and will enable us to succeed and complete every task that He has assigned to us.

For it is “… ‘not by force, and not by power, but by my Spirit, ‘says ADONAI-Tzva’ot.” Zechariah 4:6 CJB

The LORD is well known for mandating the unfits and misfits of this world to do great things. He always finds strength in the weakest places. Let us realign our outlook, accept the mandate, trust that He is able and walk in obedience.
